Art Workshops

City Street Illustration
A fun illustration class for beginners! Start with a tracing to use if you choose, and I will guide you through adding detail with Micron Pen. Then we will add color and depth with Prismacolor, Ecoline, and Tombow brush markers. Take it a step further with white and metallic gel pens.

Cyanotype Workshop
Learn to use traditional cyanotype chemicals to harness the power of the sun to create photographic images of plants! Cyanotypes use UV light to react with the sun to create a beautiful blue hue. Students will make 10+ prints in this workshop. Weather-dependent! It must be a sunny day and this class requires some outdoor space.

Botanical Plaster Prints
Make impressions of botanicals in clay to create molds for plaster, resulting in chic wall art.

Block Printed Wall Hanging
Learn the art of linocut block carving in this extended class. Students will carve an 8" x 11" block that will be printed in a single color on a handmade cotton wall hanging.

Block Printed Kitchen Towels
Students will learn the basics of linocut block printing to design stamps for 3 large flour sack kitchen towels. Students will carve their own mini stamps that they will also take home to use for future printing projects.

Block Printed Gift Wrap Sheets
Students will learn the basics of linocut block printing to design stamps for large kraft wrapping sheets. Students will carve their own mini stamps that they will also take home to use for future printing projects.

Batik Wax-Resist Dyeing
This messy class has beautiful results! Batik is one of the oldest art forms in human history. Students will paint hot wax onto an organic cotton bandana. The design will be placed into dye and the wax design will resist the color, leaving a beautiful white pattern behind.

Brushless Abstract Painting
This colorful class is very relaxing and fun for adults and kids. Students will use scrapers and other tools to drag and layer paint on heavy paper. I will also discuss the basics of understanding abstract art.

Tiny Valentines
Create mini acrylic paintings with puns and themes to send to your Valentines. Students will spend half the class creating small, simple paintings and the other half of class cutting, pasting, and playing with fun stationery options. Students will leave with 5 Valentines that are ready for stamps!

Shibori Dyeing
Shibori is a Japanese art form that involves binding, twisting, and folding to create stunning designs with rich indigo. I've taught this class in many forms: kitchen towels, cotton napkin sets, Japanese style aprons, raw muslin fabric, and "open studio" where students bring whatever they'd like to dye.
